Interactive example · Quoting
An instant quote calculator that answers "roughly how much?" before they ring someone else
Most people who land on a trade website want one thing first: a rough price. A contact form that says "we'll get back to you" sends them to the next result. Below, a fictional Bendigo fencing business lets them measure the job, see a real range and book a measure, and the office receives a lead that already has the details.
In short
An instant quote calculator lets website visitors describe a job, such as metres of fence or square metres of deck, choose options and see a price range on the spot, calculated from the business's own rates. They can book a site measure in the same step, and the business receives a lead with the full specification attached.

What you just used
Every screen is a decision about how the work runs
A price range, not a contact form
Visitors get an honest range from your own rates, straight away. People who can't afford the job find out before they take up your time; people who can are more likely to book than if they'd been told to wait.
Measuring that feels like the job
Sides on a plan, lengths in metres, a deck that grows as you drag it out. It's closer to how customers picture the work than a form field asking for "approximate size".
Options that sell themselves
Height, colour, gates, removal of the old fence. Each shows its effect on the price as it's chosen, which is where upgrades get made without a salesperson.
Local rules built in
In Victoria, neighbours generally share the cost of a standard dividing fence. The calculator shows the split and offers to prepare the notice, which answers the next question before it's asked.
A booked measure, not a maybe
The visitor chooses a real time slot from your calendar. The measure is booked, not just requested, so the next step belongs to you.
Leads that arrive specified
The office gets the product, lengths, options, estimate, suburb and a photo, plus a note on whether it's in your area and your price range. You quote from facts, not a phone tag.
Built for you
Your rules, not a template's
Built for your business, the calculator runs on your numbers:
- Your products, rates, minimum charges and surcharges, editable by you without a developer
- Your service area, with travel charges or a polite no outside it
- Your calendar, so only real measure or consult slots are offered
- Your follow-up: SMS confirmation, reminders and a quote sent after the measure
- Leads straight into your job management app or CRM
- Any trade: fencing, decking, landscaping, solar, cleaning, concreting, painting
Connects to what you already use
Where a tool offers an API or a calendar feed, the build talks to it directly. Your data stays in accounts you own.

Quote calculator, contact form, or a phone number?
A phone number and a form still matter. The question is how many visitors leave without using either because they can't see a price.
| Criteria | Contact form | Plugin calculator | Custom quote calculator |
|---|---|---|---|
| Visitor sees a price | No | Often, if the job is simple | Yes, a range from your rates |
| Fits your pricing | Not applicable | Only if it fits the plugin's model | Exactly, including your exceptions |
| Lead quality | A name and "call me" | Some details | Full specification and a booked measure |
| Looks like your brand | Yes | Usually not | Yes |
| Changing prices | Not applicable | In the plugin settings | In your own admin screen |
| Best when | Every job is genuinely different | One simple product with flat pricing | Jobs vary but follow rules you could write down |
How we'd build yours
Fixed price, agreed before we start
Write down how you price
We sit with whoever quotes and turn their rules of thumb into a pricing model: rates, minimums, surcharges and the exceptions they apply without thinking.
Fix the scope and the price
Products, options, calendar and integrations in the first version, written down with one fixed price you approve before we start.
Test the numbers against real jobs
Before launch, the calculator is run against recent quotes you've sent. Ranges are tuned until they land where your real quotes did.
Launch and measure the leads
We track how many visitors get a price, how many book, and what those jobs are worth, so you can see whether the calculator earns its keep.
What moves the price
Custom work is quoted individually, at a fixed price, once the scope is written down. These are the things that make the biggest difference.
- Products and options
- Each product with its own measurements and options adds pricing logic.
- Measuring interface
- Simple sizes are quicker than an interactive plan or a satellite map.
- Calendar booking
- A request is simpler than booking against live availability.
- Where leads go
- Email is simplest; your job management app or CRM needs an integration.
When you shouldn't build this
If every job you do is genuinely one-off, a calculator will give ranges so wide they're useless, and a good contact form and a fast phone call are the better answer. It works when your pricing follows rules you could write down, even complicated ones. We'll look at your last twenty quotes and tell you which you are.

Common questions
A tool on a business's website where a visitor describes a job, such as the length of a fence or the size of a deck, picks options and sees an estimated price range immediately. It's calculated from the business's own rates, and usually ends with a booking or enquiry that includes the details.
It filters out people who were never going to proceed, which saves you time. For everyone else, a range builds trust and makes booking a measure the obvious next step. Showing a range rather than an exact figure leaves room for what you find on site.
As accurate as the rules behind it. Built from your real rates and tested against quotes you've already sent, most estimates land within the range shown. The site measure confirms the final price, and the calculator says so plainly.
Yes. Rates, minimum charges, surcharges and option prices live in an admin screen you control, so a supplier price rise doesn't need a developer.
Under Victoria's Fences Act 1968, adjoining owners are generally responsible for a sufficient dividing fence in equal shares, and there's a formal fencing notice process if they can't agree. The calculator shows a split price as a guide, not legal advice.
